Go ahead. Write a poem in response to one or more of the photographs below. It's free to submit! Make sure to hashtag your entry on Social Media #travelingpoet after submitting via the Entry Form below. Example: I just created a poem for Poetic Canvas Poetry Contest #travelingpoet and make sure to include a screenshot/copy/description of the photograph your poem is responding to. What exactly is Ekphrastic poetry you might ask? Poetry responding/speaking to a work of art (Think John Keats Ode on a Grecian Urn) is called Ekphrastic, which means an exploration of the vivid details within your chosen photo. You might also consider what story the photo tells you, what the action is, and what mysteries it contains. For inspiration, check out The Ekphrastic Review - http://www.ekphrastic.net/. We recommend poems that are between 12-20 lines.
Winning poems will be featured in an anthology and displayed in Healthy Rhythm Community Art Gallery in Montrose, Colorado. Good luck!
