Praise for Morning Comes Roaring Down the Mountain

"You will circle back to Emily Robyn Clark's taut poems over and over. The poems vibrate with compressed images and implications, leaving you tingling in 'the siren of silence.'"
— Kristin Zimet, author of Take in My Arms the Dark

"Emily Robyn Clark's words touch my soul. Her book challenges, inspires, and refreshes the spirit. You'll want it in your library."
— Thomas R. Thomas, author of Missing Shaun

"These persona poems carried me away. Linked by the poet’s singular perspective, they make the whole mess work in a 'wild space.' I hope you enjoy it as much as I did."
— Alexis Rhone Fancher, author of Triggered and Brazen

"Her poetry speaks on a personal level, inspiring thoughts and feelings that linger beautifully. She connects readers to her world, gradually touching and inspiring lives."
— Stephen Kalinich, celebrated poet and lyricist for The Beach Boys and Diana Ross

A lifelong poet who was first published at the age of five, she has performed at iconic venues across the United States, including the historic Beyond Baroque Literary Arts Center in Venice Beach, SoHo Music Club in Santa Barbara, The Victory Theatre Center in Burbank, and The Aspen Poets’ Society in Aspen. She studied poetry, fiction, and creative writing at Virginia Commonwealth University and trained in screenwriting and producing in the MFA Film Production program at Florida State University’s College of Motion Picture Arts.

As a filmmaker, her debut short film Love Spell earned eleven awards and screened at sixteen festivals worldwide, premiering at FilmQuest. Her additional work includes the award-nominated short Ouroboros, with screenplays recognized by festivals including FilmQuest and Renegade Film Festival. She studied poetry and fiction at Virginia Commonwealth University and trained in screenwriting, producing, and story development in the MFA Film Production program at Florida State University’s College of Motion Picture Arts, with additional study through the Sundance Institute.

Clark has also worked extensively in film journalism and entertainment media. She served as a weekly on-camera co-host and film critic for the Emmy Award-winning entertainment news show Talking Pictures, where she filmed studio episodes, attended advance press screenings, and reviewed new theatrical releases. As a freelance reporter and media writer, she covered major and independent film festivals and covered entertainment news both remotely and in person for outlets including Dig In Magazine, The Acorn Newspapers, VC Reporter, and Gaye Magazine, conducting red carpet and phone interviews with acclaimed filmmakers and actors including Awkwafina, Milla Jovovich, Emma Roberts, Justin Chon, Eiza González, Tiffany Chu, Clayne Crawford, J.T. Her industry background also includes work as a script reader for festivals and organizations including Slamdance Film Festival and Female Voices Rock, and as a judge for FilmQuest Film Festival and the Red Rock Film Festival.

Her music, released under the name Emma Dream, has been described as mythic folk and alt-country. She also produced and starred in the official Country Girls music video.

She is the founder and president of The Screenwriter’s Guild, a chapter of the League of Utah Writers, a former Artist-in-Residence with California Poets in the Schools, and an alumni mentor at Florida State University. Her work has been associated with a resurgent “nouveau romantic” sensibility—a contemporary reimagining of Gothic and Romantic traditions, drawing from 19th-century literature, art, and music while situating them within a modern cinematic and literary context.
