Praise for Morning Comes Roaring Down the Mountain

"You will circle back to Emily Robyn Clark's taut poems over and over. The poems vibrate with compressed images and implications, leaving you tingling in 'the siren of silence.'"
— Kristin Zimet, author of Take in My Arms the Dark

"Emily Robyn Clark's words touch my soul. Her book challenges, inspires, and refreshes the spirit. You'll want it in your library."
— Thomas R. Thomas, author of Missing Shaun

"These persona poems carried me away. Linked by the poet’s singular perspective, they make the whole mess work in a 'wild space.' I hope you enjoy it as much as I did."
— Alexis Rhone Fancher, author of Triggered, Brazen, and The Dead Kid Poems

"Her poetry speaks on a personal level, inspiring thoughts and feelings that linger beautifully. She connects readers to her world, gradually touching and inspiring lives."
— Stephen Kalinich, celebrated poet and lyricist for The Beach Boys and Diana Ross
ABOUT ME
Emily Robyn Clark is a multi-media artist and award-winning filmmaker, poet, fiction writer, journalist and singer-songwriter whose work spans diverse creative fields. As a storyteller, she explores themes of identity, resilience, and transformation through her work.

Her artistic versatility reflects a deep commitment to crafting narratives that resonate across boundaries, blending personal experiences with universal reflections.

Clark’s poetry has been featured in
Lullwater Review, Cultural Weekly, Spectrum, Askew Poetry, Aspen Daily News, A! Magazine for the Arts, Lavender Review, The Sow’s Ear Poetry Review, and other esteemed publications. A lifelong poet who was first published at the age of five, she has performed at iconic venues including Beyond Baroque in Venice, SoHo in Santa Barbara, The Victory Theatre Center in LA, Weller Book Works in Salt Lake City, The Ojai Arts Center, and Aspen Poets’ Society in Aspen. As a former poetry teacher with California Poets in the Schools, she inspired young writers to find their voices, culminating in her student anthology Tasty Little Samples, commissioned by the Ventura Arts Council.

A native of Bristol, Tennessee—the birthplace of country music—Clark’s Southern heritage, Christian upbringing, and later embrace of Nichiren Buddhism infuse her work with a richly layered perspective. Her poetry draws on these identities to tackle themes like faith, grief, and alienation offering readers insight into underrepresented worlds. Her personal experiences as a feminist and neurodivergent artist further shape her storytelling, creating work that is both deeply personal and universally resonant.

In addition to her literary achievements, Clark is an accomplished filmmaker, whose debut short film LOVE SPELL earned eleven awards and screened at 16 festivals worldwide and premiered at FilmQuest Film Festival. Her short script "Apocalypse Messiah" was a finalist at FilmQuest in 2023, and her short script "Suffer Her Rage" was a QuarterFinalist in 2024. Her short film OUROBOROS was award-nominated in 2024.

As a journalist, she has covered the Sundance Film Festival for Gaye Magazine, Dig In Magazine, and the Emmy Award-winning show Talking Pictures, where she also co-hosted.

Clark’s music, released under her stage name Emma Dream, merges her poetic sensibilities with a haunting alt-country sound. Her debut single "Country Girls" recorded in Nashville and released worldwide in September, 2024, has garnered significant attention, was featured on numerous curated Spotify playlists and won an award at the Zepstone International Film & Music Festival, December 2024. She produced and starred in the official "Country Girls" music video due for release worldwide in 2025.

Currently residing in Florida, where she studied in the MFA Film Production program at Florida State University, Clark continues to explore themes of identity, healing, and transformation in her writing. Clark has lived and worked in Europe, Oregon, California, Utah, Tennessee, Virginia, and Florida, but believes Southern California feels the most like home. A passionate feminist and advocate for marginalized communities, she seeks to uplift underrepresented voices through her art, embodying her belief that storytelling is a powerful tool for change.
